When our son graduated BMT a couple of years ago, we realized families were traveling from all over the U.S. just to see their Airman for a few precious hours. We lived that graduation week—the rush to the Valley Hi Gate, the pride of the Coin Ceremony, and the desperate need for a quiet place to decompress afterwards.

We started Blue Star Cottages to serve our fellow military families. We don't just offer a place to sleep; we offer a "Welcome Home". From the "Congratulations Airman" banner in the garage to the fully stocked kitchen for that first home-cooked meal in months, every detail is designed to honor your service and your family's sacrifice.

Your BMT Graduation Insider Guide

The 2-Day Graduation Timeline

Official BMT graduation events are now held on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Wednesday features the Airman’s Run and the Coin Ceremony. Thursday is the formal Graduation Parade. We recommend arriving by Tuesday evening to be ready for the early morning gate openings!

The 1604 Advantage

Trainees specifically tell their families to stay "Inside 1604." Our homes are located inside the loop, allowing you to avoid the massive traffic bottlenecks on Loop 1604 and I-410 during the early morning rush to the base.

Gate & Access Tips

The Luke East Gate is the main 24/7 entry point and home to the Visitor Center for pass assistance. The Valley Hi Gate is also 24/7 and very convenient for BMT families. Pro Tip: Have your photo IDs ready at all times!

The Home-Cooked Reunion

The most requested item after 7.5 weeks of training? A home-cooked meal. Our kitchens are fully stocked with spices, cookware, and crockpots so you can host a private, quiet reunion dinner during Town Pass.

Base Liberty & Town Pass

On Wednesday and Thursday, graduates are typically granted Town Pass to leave the installation for a set period. They must return to their squadron by 8 p.m. on Wednesday and 6 p.m. on Thursday. We are the perfect nearby spot to maximize that time.

Nearby Essentials

Need last-minute supplies for that "welcome home" meal? We are minutes from HEB and Walmart. If your Airman needs to "touch grass," the Heritage Duck Pond Park is just 3 minutes away from our Casita.
